女性が「悪い男」を選ぶのは進化のせい？

「悪い」男性イメージがしばしば女性を惹き付けることがあるのは知られている。研究チームは、
どのようなマイナスの性質が女性を惹きつけ、またそれはなぜかを研究した。英紙テレグラフが報じた。

同紙によると、ナルシシズム、マキアベリ主義、精神病質といった「闇の３つ組」の特徴を持つ顔を女性が
気に入るか否かが調べられた。

ナルシシズムは傲慢さと自己愛、他者への共感の欠如が特徴で、マキアベリ主義は他人を操ることを好み、
皮肉的で道徳を無視しがち。精神病質の主な特徴は衝動的で利己的、薄情なこと。

子どもを求める女性は肉体・精神的に強く、魅力的な外見を持つパートナーを見つける原始的な欲求が
あるという。そしてそのような男性の顔は、「闇の３つ組」の特徴を有している。

研究には２３７０人の女性が参加し、コンピューターで作られた男性の顔２組のうちどちらが魅力的かを
選んだところ、ある者は「闇の３つ組」の特徴を有する顔に惹きつけられた。特筆すべきことに、ナルシシズム的
特徴を持つ顔を好んだ女性は、平均より多くの子どもを持つ可能性が高いことが明らかになった。

But it is not the love of danger that attracts them but a primitive desire to find a mate who appears
mentally strong, confident and physically attractive in order to have healthier children.

Such men have facial features that display the 'Dark Triad' of personality traits - Machiavellianism,
narcissism and psychopathy - said research for the journal Evolution and Human Behaviour.

And women who want children show a clear preference for these features because, like natural selection
among animals, it indicates strong genes and good health, both mental and physical.
